As promised, Maserati showed its new flagship supercar GT2 Stradale at the Monterey Auto Week (USA, California), which is a lightweight and more productive version of the Maserati MC20.
The mid-engine Maserati MC20 supercar debuted in 2020, last year it was used as the basis for the racing Maserati GT2, and today the road-going Maserati GT2 Stradale, designed taking into account the racing experience gained, is presented. In this case, there is no talk of converting a racing car into a road car; the Maserati GT2 Stradale is a completely independent model, oriented specifically towards public roads and track days, and does not have the regulatory restrictions imposed on purely racing cars of the GT2 class.

The Maserati GT2 Stradale features a completely redesigned external aerodynamic package compared to the original MC20, including a more developed front splitter and a fixed rear wing on openwork pillars — together they create up to 500 kg of downforce at high speeds. The body structure makes more extensive use of carbon fiber, which, together with other weight-saving measures, has reduced the dry weight by 60 kg to 1,365 kg — the lightweight forged 20-inch wheels alone have helped to shed 19 kg.

The interior has also been revised: in order to reduce weight and improve ergonomics, the central console with a washer for selecting driving modes has been redesigned, the door handles are made in the form of textile straps, new lightweight Sabelt seats have been installed, most surfaces are covered with anti-glare Alcantara. The steering wheel has become flatter, a garland of LEDs has been integrated into the upper part of the rim, like in racing cars — it allows better control of engine speed. There is only one trunk left, the front one, with a volume of 100 liters. Meanwhile, the level of equipment is still quite high: there is a 695-watt Sonus Faber audio system with a dozen speakers, wireless charging for a smartphone and other amenities.
The 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno twin-turbo petrol engine installed behind the cockpit received modified turbochargers and a new exhaust system. Maximum power increased by 10 hp. up to 640 hp, but the maximum torque, on the contrary, decreased by 10 Nm to 720 Nm. The gearbox is the same — an 8-speed “robot” with two clutches, all power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. Acceleration time to 100 km/h was reduced by 0.1 s to 2.8 s, top speed decreased by 1 km/h to 324 km/h.

The double wishbone suspension has been retuned all round for improved handling precision, the steering has been recalibrated, and the wheels are fitted with more powerful Brembo brakes. An optional Performance Pack includes carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin semi-slicks, an electronically controlled differential lock and the most hardcore Corsa Evo driving mode, which allows you to squeeze the most out of the car on the track. The Performance Plus package adds four-point seat belts and a fire extinguisher on top.

The price of the Maserati GT2 Stradale has not yet been announced, but we believe it will exceed 300 thousand euros.
