MOSCOW, August 16 Champions League winner Xherdan Shaqiri has signed a contract with Swiss Basel, the football club's website reports.
On Wednesday, Shaqiri mutually terminated his contract with the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) club Chicago Fire.
The agreement with the 32-year-old midfielder is for three years. He is a product of the club's youth system and played for it from 2009 to 2012, becoming a three-time Swiss champion with the team.
Shakiri won the Champions League with English Liverpool and German Bayern, and also played for Italian Inter, English Stoke City and French Lyon. He played 125 matches for the Swiss national team and scored 32 goals.
