Patent images of the updated German sedan were recently published on the Internet, thanks to which we have the opportunity to evaluate all the changes in appearance.< /p>
The second series of BMW dates back to 2014 and includes completely different cars. Among them are compact vans, classic coupes and convertibles with rear-wheel drive layout, as well as the hero of this article — a four-door sedan with the Gran Coupe prefix. The first and only generation model with the factory index F44 was presented in the fall of 2019.

This year, the image sedan turns five years old, and it is high time for a scheduled restyling. Judging by the patent images that appeared on the Internet a few days ago, it is already ready. The front part will be almost completely borrowed from the updated first series hatchback, although the pre-restyling models differed quite noticeably in design. Now there will be the same headlights with a pair of vertical LED elements in each and a radiator grille with horizontal crossbars. The rear part will change even more significantly: the sedan will get a new trunk lid with a higher license plate niche, as well as new-shaped lights. Their LED side lights have graphics similar to the restyled 1 Series hatchback, and at first it may seem that they are the same, but the shape still differs both at the edges and in the straightened upper border. Our render shows a sedan in the most powerful version M235, the distinctive feature of which is four round exhaust pipes. An interesting point: the long-wheelbase version of the sedan with the L prefix, traditional for the Chinese market, judging by the patent images, will receive slightly differently made doors in terms of stampings, as well as key-type door handles, like many new products of the Bavarian company (for example, the new generation X3).

Like the updated «penny», the 2 Series Gran Coupe sedan is made on the front-wheel drive FAAR platform with a transverse engine. The car is equipped with petrol and diesel engines, at the top of the range is the same modification M235 (now without the letter i) with a turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0, developing 300 hp in the hatchback M135 xDrive. In accordance with current trends, the restyled sedan may receive more electrified versions.
