Media: Ronaldo fled from Saudi Arabian Super Cup award ceremony

MOSCOW, August 18 Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nasr refused to receive the silver medal of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup and ran from the field to the locker room immediately after the defeat to Al-Hilal in the match for the trophy, the Daily Mail reports.
The match took place on Saturday in Abha and ended with a score of 4:1 in favor of Al-Hilal, the current champion of the country. Ronaldo put his team ahead at the end of the first half, but after Al-Nasr conceded four goals.

As the publication notes, the 39-year-old forward was dissatisfied with the actions of his teammates and publicly criticized them. In the center circle, the Portuguese made a gesture indicating that they were sleeping on the field. At the end of the match, Ronaldo did not wait for the award ceremony and ran off the field to the locker room.

Also before the game, Ronaldo violated the traditional ritual of football players and touched the trophy when entering the field. Among athletes in team sports, such an action is considered a bad omen, meaning that in this case the trophy will go to the opponent.
