Zenit lost points for the first time in the new season

KHIMKI (Moscow Region), August 18 St. Petersburg's Zenit tied with Khimki in the fifth round of the Russian Football Championship.
The match, which took place in the Moscow Region, ended with a score of 1:1. Edgardo Fariña scored for the hosts (56th minute). Andrey Mostovoy scored for the visitors (88).
Zenit midfielder Maxim Glushenkov was injured in the middle of the first half. The Khimki player was kicking the ball out of his penalty area and hit Glushenkov's hand. Doctors put a splint on the Zenit player, but despite this, the midfielder was unable to continue the game. He was replaced by defender Yuri Gorshkov.

Zenit had not conceded in four rounds since the start of the season, as well as in two matches of the Russian Cup. The team broke its winning streak in all tournaments, which consisted of seven games. The club, which has 13 points, leads the Russian Premier League (RPL) standings. Khimki is in ninth place with five points.

In the next round, Zenit will host Spartak Moscow on August 24, and Khimki will play Akhmat Grozny away on the same day.
