The Isle of Man Southern 100 race was canceled after a competitor and a marshal were killed in qualifying practice.
Men died in an incident Tuesday night on the final lap of the race 1100cc.
With the police investigation continuing, the organizers have announced that the event, which was supposed to take place before Thursday, has been cancelled.
«The course secretary has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the event due to ongoing investigations, and this remains the organization's priority,» the event said in a statement. Police have since confirmed the deaths of one horseman and a marshal, though no details of their identities have yet been released.
The Southern 100 takes place on the 4.8 mile Billown track on roads near Castletown on the Isle of Man. Competitors included 25-time TT winner Michael Dunlop, Davey Todd, Dean Harrison and Ian Looger.
Detective Inspector Neil Craig said: “There were a lot of people in the area at the time who were watching the races, and the officers have already spoken to a number of people about what they saw.
“However, it is likely that there are people who either witnessed what happened or who have video footage of the incident itself. , whom we have yet to identify and contact.
“So I would like to appeal to everyone who was present at the time and who thinks they can help, please contact us.”< /p>
This race is smaller than the TT that Peter Hickman enjoyed a resurgent and record-breaking week last month.
Tuesday's crash occurred between the start line and shortly after crossing the Arbory Road bypass around 19:00. The road between the Mallew Street Bridge and Ballacine Corner is closed for medical examination.
