Mercedeshas taken an approach in which many minor improvements have been made to the efficiency of the powerplant and on-board technology of the outgoing GLC Coupe. As with the standard GLC SUV, the coupe's design is certainly an evolution of an old car, not something too groundbreaking. Mercedes says the new GLC Coupe will hit European markets in July 2023.
Mercedes GLC Coupe does not differ from the regular version at the front, but big changes expected at the back. The sloping roofline gives the coupe a bolder side profile, but the taillights, trunk lid and bumper are also unique to the coupe.
GLC Coupe is 47mm longer than its off-road counterpart. The sloped roof does get in the way of the trunk, but the capacity is still 45 liters more than the old model at 545 liters. In plug-in versions, this figure is reduced to to 390 liters.
UK customers will probably only be offered the sportier AMG Line trim. It will include 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charging and heated front seats. There's also a separate sunroof for rear passengers, which lets in more light but also expands headroom.
The engine range of new items is also quite extensive. There are four diesel options with a mild hybrid system, as well as two pure diesel versions and two pure petrol versions.
Diesel versions 220 d and 300 d< /strong> received a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with mild hybrid technology with 197 hp. and 269 hp respectively. The fastest of the mild-hybrid GLCcoupes is the 300 petrol version, which accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and 300 d 0.1 seconds slower.
There are also three plug-in hybrid power unit, all with a four-cylinder engine and a 31 kWh battery that can provide a pure electric range of up to 130 km. The petrol 300ehas power 313 hp and 550 Nm of torque, while the diesel 300 de received a return of 335 hp. The top model is the 400 e with a total output of 381 hp. and 650 Nm. A six-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel engine has been confirmed, but specifications have yet to be released.
All hybrids get an 11kW AC charger as standard, but an optional DC power plant 60 kW can fully charge the battery in about half an hour.
