Donald Trump said that Nicola Sturgeon was a bad influence on Scotland, adding that «it's very bad what happened to her» after she ended up embroiled in the SNP finance scandal. .
The former US President, who visits his golf resorts in Scotland, also seems to have questioned the former First Minister's patriotism, saying, «You need people who love their country.»
< p>The businessman has a long history with the SNP government.
He originally had a friendly relationship with Alex Salmond, but that fell apart over plans to build wind farms near his Aberdeenshire estate when Trump called him «Mad Alex» .
During the 2016 presidential election campaign, Ms. Sturgeon made no secret of her preference for Hillary Clinton and stripped Trump of his mother's business ambassador status in Scotland.

On Wednesday, in an interview with reporters, Trump was asked what he thought of Ms. Sturgeon. , whose home was ransacked by police last month as her husband Peter Murrell, a former SNP chief executive, was arrested as part of an investigation into party finances.
“I think it’s a shame she didn’t help Scotland much I think,” Trump said from a golf buggy wearing his trademark red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap.
“I don’t know.” I think she was a great person for Scotland and it's very bad to hear what's going on with her.
“You need people who love their country. This is a very special country. So it's too bad what happened to her.»

In separate comments given by The Scottish Sun, Mr. Trump stated that Ms. Sturgeon was «anti-business» and a «negative force.» for Scotland.
He said she «wasn't very kind to me» and should have looked more like his «friend Sean Connery.»
Mr Trump added: » She was a very successful politician but now that she is out of office it would be a good change for Scotland.
“She has hurt Scotland. It has damaged education and tourism. She should have hugged us.”

Trump, who was on a two-day visit to Scotland, was expected to travel to Ireland on Wednesday.
He added: “We had a great time in Turnberry. There is no such place. We really had a great time and we love Scotland. I love Scotland. This is my mother's house — she lived too.»

A source close to Ms Sturgeon said: “If Donald Trump wants to see a politician who has had a negative impact on the country, then he should perhaps reach for the mirror. In one of her few public appearances in Holyrood, she said she could not imagine the events of the past weeks «in her worst nightmares.»
G- Ms Sturgeon again denied that the police investigation had anything to do with her shocking decision to step down in February.
She declined to comment on why SNP bought a £100,000 luxury motorhome that was confiscated in her elderly mother-in-law's driveway.
Both Mr. Murrell and Colin Beatty, a former SNP treasurer who was also arrested, have been released without charge pending further investigation.
