New Lexus GX: first images

Last week, the Japanese company distributed the first teasers of the new SUV. Using them, we decided to get an idea of ​​how the novelty will look like.

The Lexus GX mid-size SUV was first introduced in 2002 at the Detroit International Auto Show. It is a luxury version of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The second generation of the SUV debuted at the end of 2009, since then the GX has received several notable restyling, the last of which occurred in 2019, in this form the SUV is produced to this day. It can be called one of the centenarians of the modern automotive market, but soon it will be replaced by a completely new model.

A few days ago, the first teasers of the novelty were published, which show fragments of the front end and lanterns. The GX will get a more angular design, its headlights will be made in the style of the older LX SUV, but their shape will be original due to the “fangs” that have appeared on the outside. The massive hood with a recess in the central part attracts attention, and its connector will be made completely horizontal, turning into stampings on the sidewalls. There will be angular wheel arches with plastic lining. The shape of the side glazing has not yet been spotted anywhere, we can only assume that it will echo the LX model. There is also little information on the back of the information, it is only clear that the lights will be made as a single element with a narrow LED strip across the entire width of the trunk lid, like on other new products of the brand.

According to preliminary data, the new Lexus GX will retain the frame structure and share the platform with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and the latest generation Lexus LX. You can expect the appearance of turbocharged 6-cylinder engines, similar to older models, and hybrid modifications. The current GX is offered with a single engine, a naturally aspirated V8 4.6 paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The novelty is expected to premiere next month.

Today in Russia, the official price tag for the current Lexus GX is 7,525,000 rubles in the Executive 5 version, and the most expensive Premium Sport package is estimated at 8,001,000 rubles. All variants are equipped with the aforementioned 296 hp V8 engine. (438 Nm).

Meanwhile, Lexus is preparing another new product — a large three-row TX crossover based on the new Toyota Grand Highlander. As for the models already presented, at the beginning of the year a new Lexus RX crossover was demonstrated in an off-road version.
