The former vice president is expected to run shortly and be maintain open disagreements on domestic and foreign policy with his former boss.
This will include defending free trade — what Mr. Pence will call «free trade with free countries.» — and a national ban on abortion.
Mr. Pence will also differ from Mr. Trump and Ron DeSantis in his explicit support for Ukraine against Russia, which he sees as part of a new Cold War.
He told the New York Times: «There is a small movement in the Republican Party that will abandon our commitment to be the leader of the free world and question why we are providing military support to Ukraine.»
He added: «We must resist the song sirens of populism unattached to conservative principles.
"People want us to return to the threshold of civility in public debate.” ;
'Commitment to America'
Mr. Pence's allies launched a fundraising group "Commited to America" in support of his candidacy.
Pence, however, has a lot to offer, as he is far behind Trump and DeSantis in the polls.

Mr. Pence plans to invest heavily in Iowa, the first state to vote in next year's race, and his performance will be a defining moment in his campaign.

Mr. Reed said, "We're going to organize [in] Iowa, in all 99 counties, like we're running him for county sheriff. "
