Jeremy Hunt insists the UK needs to be «pragmatic» about the need for migrant workers amid a split in the cabinet over Swella Braverman's plans to drastically reduce their numbers.< /p>
The chancellor suggested that the list of shortage of professions, which simplifies visa control for certain sectors, could be expanded so that enterprises can «find the necessary workforce.» release of expected record net migration figures later this month.

Ms Braverman, the Home Secretary, wants to respond with immediate crackdowns at the borders and has come up with five proposals to limit numbers.
These include raising the minimum wage that companies must pay to hire skilled workers from overseas, and making it harder for migrants to bring spouses to the UK.
She also planned to reduce the amount of time international students could stay after the end of the course, and exclude those who failed to complete their studies.
Only one of the proposals, which was to prevent international students from bringing family members to the UK, was approved by her cabinet colleagues.
Ms Braverman warned that the country's reliance on migrant workers means Britons are «forgetting how to make things for themselves.»
'Fully united'
Mr Hunt insisted the government was «totally united» on the need to reduce migration, despite apparent divisions within the Cabinet.
