Boris Johnson called Emmanuel Macron a «Putin sycophant» and demanded an «orgy of beating frogs», his former director of public relations # 10.
Guto Harry said Johnson lashed out at the French president after he criticized his handling of the Ukrainian refugee crisis following the Russian invasion.

Mr. Harry said on the second edition of Unprecedented, his new LBC podcast, that the former prime minister «really pissed off» as soon as he saw Mr Macron's remarks leading the national news.
The Telegraph understands that Mr Johnson is not really acknowledging his former colleague's story.
The claimed outbreak came after Mr Macron used an EU summit three weeks after the war began to blame Britain's failure to justify its «grand claims» for asylum by saying that he hoped Ukrainians who went to live with their families in Britain would be «better treated».
'He really went berserk'
Mr Harry said: «When the British press gave the British government trouble over our response to the refugee crisis, Macron stepped it up by criticizing Boris quite directly, and his words were all over the front page of The Guardian.
“While Boris doesn’t tend to get angry or use particularly strong language, this was one [time] when he really snapped. At our morning meeting with a small group of us, he had just launched a furious attack on Emmanuel Macron.
“And basically said, 'It’s a four-letter word that starts with ‘s’. ', he is an eccentric, he is Putin's sycophant, we need to figure this out' — a rugby term that basically means “no gloves” — “we need an orgy of beating frogs, I’ll have to knock out the lights on him”… Pretty strong stuff.”
Mr Macron has previously faced backlash from Zelensky's side after he abandoned the prospect of a «complete defeat of Russia» and suggested that Putin not be humiliated for his intrusion.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Mr Harry gave more details of a telephone conversation between Downing Street and Kiev at 4 am on February 24, 2022, the day Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“Zelensky was choking, he was choking, but very calm, given what happened on the way, ”he recalled. “It was harrowing, it was haunting, he brought it to life for all of us. It was very sobering, we really couldn't believe it was happening…
“Boris could not understand that we were there to help Ukraine in any way possible. Using whatever we could deploy within reason.
“But at that point in time, I think it was a relationship between men, where he basically imagined himself in this bunker in his own capital, with foreign troops advancing on this city, and his life was in danger. And now I remember very well how he said: “Well, you are fine, and you, Vladimir, are fine.” Do you have good people around? Are you safe? Is there anything we can do to protect you?”
Mr Harry said Mr Johnson was “honest and frank” in his decision to stand firm on Ukraine's demands for a no-fly zone.< /p>
Despite number 10 being the subject of several public objections to this on several occasions, including from an emotional Ukrainian activist at a press conference, the ministers argued that the move would effectively mean issuing the order to shoot down the Russian aircraft and risk a wider escalation of the conflict. .
' 'You're a hero'
Mr Harry also revealed details of one of the latest exchanges that took place between Mr Zelensky and Mr Johnson shortly before the latter left office in September 2022.
“Basically, Zelensky said: “We are so sad that you resigned, we are all disappointed, Boris, personally I am disappointed, everyone loves you in Ukraine, it’s true.”
“ And Boris interrupted him: “No, you are a hero, everyone loves you in my country, Vladimir, to which he was interrupted:“ No, no, you are a hero in my country Boris, and everyone loves you love.»
«And this, without any doubt, I think, is the best and most sincere tribute he could ever hope for. Even his critics give Boris credit for the way he fought the war in Ukraine.”
Mr. Johnson, who did not participate in either Mr. Harry's podcast or its content, is said to be “ condemns» attempts to comment on issues discussed in the last episode.
