Eddie Howe has warned Newcastle United owners that they will need a much bigger and stronger squad to handle the game in Europe next season as the Magpies close in on the title. Football League.
Newcastle's impressive 4-1 victory over Brighton on Thursday night means they are four points clear of Liverpool by a superior goal difference of plus seven with two games left.
Victory A home to Leicester on Monday will ensure a top four finish no matter what Liverpool do against Aston Villa and Southampton, but Howe knows his current team will struggle to cope with the additional demands next season.
< p>Telegraph Sport reported last month that Newcastle were planning an ambitious summer recruiting campaign and RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Soboslai has a new target.
The 22-year-old Hungarian international who liked the Instagram post of the victory Newcastle over Brighton join the likes of James Maddison from Leicester City and Harvey Barnes, Kieran Tierney from Arsenal Manchester. City's Calvin Phillips and Chelsea's Conor Gallagher are shortlisted for Newcastle.
As well as Chefren Thuram from Nice, Markus Thuram from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Moussa Diaby from Leverkusen. Manchester United's Scott McTominay is also of interest, as is Brighton's Moises Caicedo.
Targets have yet to be finalized, but according to Telegraph Sport, there are plans to sign four or five elite players, to support the team before the assault on Europe.
«Potential pitfalls we will face next season will be expectations.» said Howe, who said he would not be watching Liverpool's game against Aston Villa this weekend as he would be too focused on preparing for Leicester. "And what should not be underestimated are the demands that Europe will present to us, in whatever competition we participate.
"It's going to be very, very difficult, and it's going to be new for us, so it's a huge challenge for us. You look at the example of Leicester and you can never underestimate what that takes away from a team in terms of Premier League demand for Europe, the Premier League and West Ham this year will be another example.
«They have done brilliantly in Europe, but probably because of these requirements their form in the Premier League has suffered a bit, so we will have to think long and hard about it.»
"Waiting is a challenge. Suddenly everything rises, and then it becomes normal. If you finish fourth, fifth, sixth, anything below that counts as a failure, and that's very difficult because the task of the Premier League is very difficult. It's next year, not now"
It remains to be seen if Newcastle will pursue their interest in Soboslai, but the fact that he is paying close attention to their results is a sign of Newcastle's growing profile around the world.
" ;I'm sure this helps," Howe replied when asked if nights like Brighton make the club more attractive to potential players. “When people watch this game, wherever they are, they see an incredible sight and taste St. James. The atmosphere and feeling of the park.
"You can see the cohesion of the whole club. I hope they see the team playing well and see that Newcastle is a great place to play football at the moment.» unsteadily move forward. Howe will try to move minor players as he knows that squad rotation will be much more important in the next campaign.
He added: "I think if you have a strong squad, rotation will be important. . Rotation will be important, using the whole team will be important.
"We didn't feel the need to necessarily do this on a regular basis because we' I was at one competition — of course, we had a cup race. We have changed to a certain extent, but perhaps not in the quantities that we may need next year.
"If you are going to do this, then the team must be strong. enough so that if you place two XIs they will have the same strength"
