Earlier this week, Lexus released the first teasers of the new compact crossover. Using them, we decided to imagine what the novelty will look like.
To date, the smallest crossover in the range of the Japanese brand is the subcompact UX, which premiered in March 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show. He stood one step below the well-known in Russia NX. And soon Lexus plans to introduce an even more compact SUV, which will receive the LBX index. The teasers of the novelty that have appeared recently allow you to create some idea of its appearance.

It is expected that the basis for the LBX will be the Toyota Yaris Cross crossover, which premiered in the spring of 2020. So far, one can only guess about the degree of similarity between them, but it is already obvious that Lexus will receive an original front end with a radiator grille integrated into the bumper. It is likely that the novelty will be similar to one of the concepts highlighted by the Japanese company in 2021. At the same time, the new LBX will not become an exact copy of it either, since they have different headlights, and the roof of the production model is made in black. The wheel arches, unlike the Yaris Cross, will be made round. For now, the rear can only be judged by the teaser, which shows the curved shape of the LED parking lights passing through the entire stern.

The technical part of the novelty can be adopted from the same Toyota Yaris Cross. It is built on the GA-B platform created as part of the TNGA architecture. In Europe, this SUV is available with a hybrid setup, which includes a 1.5 petrol three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, an electric motor and an electromechanical variator. The total system power is 116 hp, front-wheel drive. In the domestic Japanese market, the Yaris Cross is also offered with a 120-horsepower 1.5 engine without a hybrid makeweight in combination with front- or all-wheel drive.

The premiere of the novelty will take place on June 5 in Milan.
Meanwhile, Lexus recently introduced the new LM minivan. And soon they will show a new three-row crossover Lexus TX.
