Avtotor has found a new partner: the plant will launch the production of auto components

The Kaliningrad enterprise will cooperate with the Chinese company Shanhai Nuoang Automobile Tehnology Co. Ltd.

At the Avtotor multi-brand plant, which is located in Kaliningrad, the production of BMW, Hyundai and Kia cars was launched before the crisis. Now the company has a different portfolio content: the list of current partners includes Kaiyi, BAIC and SWM, and Kolesa.ru wrote more about cooperation with each of them earlier. Now it became known about another partner, by the way, he is also from China.

Avtotor signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese company Shanhai Nuoang Automobile Technology Co. Ltd, which develops electric vehicles, electric propulsion systems and their key components. The document was signed at the end of the business program of the Russian-Chinese business forum, which was held in Shanghai (PRC).

As explained in the press service of Avtotor, the parties agreed to cooperate within the framework of a project to create in the Kaliningrad region the production of not only electric cars, but also cars running on gas motor fuel and hybrids. According to the plan, the production of parts and assemblies will also be launched here (including electric motors, including three-in-one and five-in-one circuits, gearboxes, electronic control systems, printed circuit boards).

According to the partners' calculations, these auto components will not only be intended for the production of cars directly at the Avtotor facilities, they are also planned to be supplied to others Russian manufacturers. It is known that within the framework of the agreement, the parties discussed a joint work plan and determined mutual obligations for the localization of components from China.

According to the president of Avtotor Holding LLC Denis Pak, the plant is now “starting the practical part of the localization program in partnership with leading Chinese companies with leading competencies in the development of new energy vehicles and critical auto components.” The top manager also stressed that “the signed agreement provides for the use of the most advanced technologies and know-how, as well as joint work to attract technology partners to organize the production of auto components in Russia, aimed at maximizing the involvement of local manufacturers in production chains.”

According to the plan, the launch of the first stage of facilities for mechanical processing and assembly of electric motors must be completed by the end of the current year. Avtotor explained that the launch of the second stage of capacities, which includes the start of operation of full-cycle equipment for the production of castings, is scheduled for 2024.

Recall that last fall it became known that that the «daughter» of Rosatom began to build a Gigafactory in the Kaliningrad region. It is assumed that the «neighboring» enterprise «Avtotor» should become the main consumer of the produced batteries. Its launch is scheduled for 2025.
