The sports version of Omoda S5 GT is preparing to launch in Russia: new details

Now the «charged» modification of the Chinese brand sedan is at the stage of final certification tests.

The Omoda brand belongs of the “celestial” company Chery, in 2022 the C5 crossover entered the Russian market, and the S5 sedan started this year: the price list of the novelty was published in the middle of last month, but then it was only about the “regular” versions. However, the «four-door» in the Russian Federation will also be presented in a charged modification — it has an increase in the form of the letters GT to the name.

How told in the local representative office of the brand, Omoda S5 GT is now at the stage of final certification testing. It is known that such a version will appear on the Russian market in August 2023. Official details about trim levels and prices will appear closer to the start of sales.

Earlier, Kolesa.ru has already talked about the Omoda S5 GT sports sedan: a picture of this version was published in the social networks of the Kazakh division of the brand. The “charged” modification is an analogue of the Chery Arrizo 5 GT sedan, which debuted on the home market in 2022. Of course, Omoda has its own logos, and this version also received round fog lights and contrasting decorative inserts.

At the same time, the Omoda S5 GT has many differences from the “just” sedan. So, the sports version received a different grille: it is made in a black beast and has a spindle shape, which was previously characteristic of Lexus models. The LED head optics of the novelty has the same shape, but a different light pattern, the model also has different bumpers, as well as glossy black rims of a new design and contrasting orange enlarged brake calipers.

Despite the fact that in the Russian office of Omoda they decided not to accompany the announcement of the “charged” novelty with its pictures, they nevertheless shared brief information about the differences from the “ordinary” sedan. So, it is known that the interior of the S5 GT version has changed due to the original decorative elements and seats with contrasting red stitching and seat belts of the same color.

By the way, as we have already noted, the Russian division of Omoda has not yet shown the S5 GT version for the Russian car market, but the sports version has already been demonstrated in Mexico, the images were published by the local publication Autosactual.mx.

It is known that the sports “four-door” Omoda S5 GT, which will be presented on the Russian market, will be equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine that produces 150 hp, the maximum torque has not yet been declassified. The engine is paired with a «robot» DCT7.

Recall that in a «regular» sedan, the role of the base engine is played by four-cylinder 1.5-liter «aspirated» with a capacity of 113 hp (maximum torque — 138 Nm). More expensive versions received a 147-horsepower turbo engine of the same volume (210 Nm). They work in tandem with a stepless “automatic” and both can “eat” AI-92 gasoline. The recommended retail price of the Omoda S5 in the Russian Federation ranges from 2,159,900 to 2,469,900 rubles, most likely the GT variant will be more expensive.
