New powerful version of the Chery Arrizo 8 sedan: sales have begun

So far we are talking only about the home market, but later the Chinese flagship four-door may get new modifications in the Russian Federation.

In Russia, sales of the Chery Arrizo 8 sedan started just a couple of weeks ago, but in native China, the model has been present since last year, and today an expansion of the range has been announced there. So, if before the G8 was available only with a 1.6 TGDI petrol turbo four, now customers are also offered a car with a 2.0 TGDI four-cylinder turbo engine, which is familiar from other models of the brand.

The return of the older engine is 254 hp. and 390 Nm, while the 1.6 TGDI in China produces 197 hp. and 290 Nm, both combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Drive in any case only front. It is announced that Chery Arrizo 8, equipped with a two-liter turbo engine, will pick up the first “hundred” in 7 seconds. The indicator of the local model with the base motor is 8 seconds (according to Chinese specialized media, the manufacturer did not indicate the dynamics). Recall that for Russia, 1.6 TGDI was slightly strangled: 186 hp. and 275 Nm, our «eight» accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

In China, the more powerful Arrizo 8 also distinguished itself in design, and outwardly it repeated the export four-door (that is, the one that is also presented in the Russian Federation). Such a sedan has a mesh grille (the grille of the PRC model with 1.6 TGDI has a different pattern) and exposed twin round exhaust pipes (instead of fake trapezoidal linings). In addition, the four-door with a two-liter turbo engine has 18-inch wheels by default (Arrizo with 1.6 TGDI comes with 16-inch wheels). The front panel, seats and door cards of the new modification are upholstered in brown leather, while the weaker sedan has a gray-blue trim.

Chery Arrizo 8 2.0 TGDI is available in three trim levels. The list of equipment of the cheapest option includes LED optics, a panoramic sunroof, a combined virtual tidy and a touchscreen of a multimedia system (each display is 12.3 inches), climate control, all-round cameras, a keyless entry system and an engine start button, cruise control.

In the “medium” version, there are heated exterior mirrors, wireless charging for a smartphone, ventilation and driver’s seat settings memory, heated front seats, adaptive cruise, auto-braking systems and lane departure warnings. Meanwhile, in Russia, they can also expand the range of the G8 in the future. True, as Kolesa.ru was told at the local office of Chery, “in relatively short-term plans” is the appearance of a hybrid sedan in the Russian Federation (this is not yet even in China). A version with a two-liter turbo engine can also be considered for the Russian market, but if a positive decision is made, then this modification will reach us no earlier than the second half of next year.
