The Hongqi brand is part of the Chinese state concern FAW (First Automotive Works); the name is read “hunts”, and in translation from Chinese it means “red banner”. The official announcement that the brand is entering the Russian market appeared in April of this year, the flagship H9 sedan and the all-electric E-HS9 crossover were the first to go on sale. Now the local representative office of the company spoke about the expansion of the line.

The model range of the Chinese brand in the Russian Federation was replenished with two models: the start of sales of the Hongqi H5 sedan and the HS5 crossover was announced. The overall length of the four-door is 4985 mm, width – 1865 mm, and height – 1465 mm. The front-wheel drive sedan H5 is offered with a non-alternative gasoline 2.0-liter turbo engine, its return is 218 hp, and the maximum torque is 340 Nm. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The four-door takes 7.8 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100.
On the Russian market Hongqi H5 will be presented in two versions. The recommended retail price of the starting Comfort version is 4,790,000 rubles. Its equipment includes a panoramic roof, dual-zone climate control, an air quality sensor, an intelligent control function for low and high beam headlights, an eight-way power driver's seat, as well as ventilation and heating of the front seats, a DVR, and a parking assistant with a camera (viewing angle – 360 degrees). The list of driving assistants includes: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, and driver status.

The Hongqi HS5 crossover, which last spring underwent an update in the home market, will also be offered in the Russian Federation with a 218-horsepower 2.0-liter gasoline engine. It comes with a six-speed automatic. This SUV takes 8.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Its overall length is 4760 mm, width – 1907 mm, and height – 1700 mm. In the Russian Federation, the model will be available only with all-wheel drive, although there are also front-wheel drive versions in China.
On the Russian market, the SUV will be offered in two versions – also Comfort and Deluxe. The recommended retail price tag of the starting version is 4,990,000 rubles. This HS5 has a panoramic roof, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, illuminated door sills, front and rear parking sensors that work in tandem with a camera, dual-zone climate control, leather trim, a 12-way adjustable driver's seat, ventilation and heating of the front seats, heated rear sofa, 12-speaker audio system, air quality sensor. There is cruise control, monitoring of “blind” zones and a descent assistance system. 590,000 rubles. In addition, this version was equipped with a wireless smartphone charging function, an intelligent high beam control system, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning function, an interior rear-view mirror with multimedia, and a memory system for driver's seat settings. According to the plan, by the middle of 2024, the local line should be replenished with two more – four new items, however, which ones the company has not yet specified. It is possible that one of them will be a large liftback H6.
