The French automaker is the first among European brands to introduce electric vehicles into its compact cars. After the Japanese introduced the Nissan LEAF, the Gauls surprised the 2012 Geneva Motor Show with the final production model destined to revolutionize the B-segment.
Renault ZOE arrived in European 2013 manufactured at French Flins factory. The companies planned to sell up to 350 000 units of the model annually. However, by the end of the first year, the model had sold out in 372 476 copies. But the small electric model of the French brand is already nearing its demise.
Renault, which already makes the Twizy, has already set a date for the end of production of the ZOE. It will be March 30, 2024 when the last time this mass-produced electric model rolls off the assembly line.
ZOE, which was offered in different versions, with a maximum range of up to 400 kilometers without recharging and a front electric motor capable of developing power up to 135 hp, was responsible for competition with such titans of the automotive industry as Stellantis, who introduced their Peugeot e-208. Now the company will almost completely leave this segment, since ZOE has no replacement.
The new Renault 5 E-Tech, which we have already seen in tests, will sooner or later fill an empty niche. The modern interpretation of the popular French model of the 70s and 80s has grown in size to just over four meters, and its debut is expected in the summer of 2024.
