Bayern are still £20m short of Harry Kane's Tottenham valuation following talks in London.

Harry Kane is — for now — a Tottenham player. their pursuit of Harry Kane and talks will continue this week after representatives from both clubs met in London on Monday.

Kane is Bayern's top target this summer and while the Bundesliga giants are poised to shatter their transfer record for signing the England captain, there remains a significant gap of at least £20m in their efforts to negotiate a fee.

As reported by Telegraph Sport, a high-profile delegation from Bayern, consisting of chief executive Jan-Christian Drysden and Marco Neppe, the club's technical director, flew to London on Monday and had lunch with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to try to break the deadlock.

Bayern have always expected negotiations with Levi to be protracted and it is clear that there is still some way to go until the clubs get closer to a compromise.

Bayern are still looking at it so positively that Levy has agreed to discuss the future Kane at the meeting, and the expectation remains that the striker will leave in that window with less than 12 months left on his contract. Kane turned 30 on Friday and could walk away with nothing next year.

Bayern's current transfer record is €80m (£68m) paid four years ago for centre-back Lucas Hernandez and it will take more than €100m to convince Levi to sanction Kane's sale.

Their pursuit behind Kane was bolstered by the sale of former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane to Saudi club Al Nasr, with his departure freeing up more funds after a £24 million sale deal.

This also led to reports in Germany that Tottenham will require a buyout clause if any deal for Kane is negotiated.

Talks are expected to continue over the next few days and Bayern are confident that Kane is ready to move to Germany. for the next stage of his career.

Thomas Tuchel, Bayern manager, is promoting Kane and wants him to fill in before the start of the Bundesliga season starting on 18 August.

Bayern will play against Liverpool in a Wednesday night friendly in Singapore where Tuchel is expected to be asked about the club's interest in Kane.
