The Rio's four-door successor has a fastback body and fangs, and a scoreboard has been installed in the cabin. The new sedan should enter the market in the fall.
The current global Kia Rio has been in service since 2016 (it has little in common with the Russian state employee of the same name), and it is high time for it to move to a new generation. And after all, the successor is almost ready, only Kia decided to abandon the name Rio: the successor will be sold under the symbol K3. Note that the brand today uses this designation in Korea and China for the older model, which in some markets, including Russia, is known as Cerato, and in North America is called Forte. But the main habitat for replacing the Kia Rio will be Latin America, and it may also be brought to the countries of Southeast Asia and the Middle East, that is, there will be no confusion there. Europe and Australia from the list of countries where the novelty will appear, apparently, are completely excluded.

The first show of the new Kia K3 was held in Mexico, where they will start production (the current «world» Rio is also made there). So far, only a sedan has been presented, but there will also be a hatchback, it has already been caught during testing.
The four-door, on the other hand, distinguished itself with a body a la fastback, “fanged” diode headlights and lanterns (the latter are also combined with a luminous plate), plus additional windows appeared in the rear roof pillars. The sedan debuted in a «sportier» version of the GT-Line, featuring a slightly more aggressive body kit, custom 17-inch wheels and exposed twin exhaust pipes.
The length of the K3 is 4545 mm, which is 10 mm more than that of the related new generation Hyundai Accent four-door (in India it is Verna, and in the Russian Federation the Hyundai model would be the next Solaris). The rest of the dimensions of the cars are the same: width — 1765 mm, height — 1475 mm, wheelbase — 2670 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the outgoing «world» sedan Kia Rio: 4385/1725/1460 mm, the distance between the axles is 2580 mm. Trunk volume Kia K3 — 544 liters compared to 387 liters in the global Rio sedan.

In the cabin there is a scoreboard, that is, a virtual tidy and a touchscreen of a multimedia system hidden under one glass (the top version has a second screen with a diagonal of 10.25 inches). Another touch panel flaunts on the center console, it is responsible for controlling the dual-zone “climate” and multimedia settings, while physical washers were left on it. “In the base” there are six “airbags” and ESP, expensive equipment is provided with a set of security systems (auto-braking systems, monitoring “blind” zones and keeping in the lane).

In Mexico, the Kia K3 sedan will be offered with a 1.6 petrol engine with a capacity of 123 hp. (the same motor is also installed on the local Rio), which is combined with a six-speed manual or automatic. For the “sported” version of the GT-Line, a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine with a return of 152 hp is reserved. and 6AKP with paddle shifters. Kia also announced that they will export cars with a 1.4 engine (capacity not announced).

The new Kia K3 sedan will begin to develop the market in the coming autumn. By the way, if our Rio still moved to the next generation, then it is possible that it would be unified with the global “troika”. But now both Rio and Solaris in the Russian Federation are waiting for only a «parallel» future.
