New Max Kilman deal gives Wolves momentum after weeks of chaos

Max Kilman signed with Wolves for £40,000 in 2018. a contract much needed by the club after a hectic week.

Wolves have already made £90m in player sales this summer, with key players leaving including Ruben Neves and Conor Cody and Julen Lopetegui leaving disappointed with the club's financial situation .

Wolves said the club and Lopetegui «admitted and accepted their differences on some issues and agreed that an amicable termination of his contract was the best solution for all parties.»

Selling the centre-back would only heighten fans' fears about the upcoming season. However, the 26-year-old has never shown any intention of leaving and the official announcement of a new contract is expected next week. His current contract has run for just under two years.

Kilman has made over 100 appearances for Wolves since his £40,000 move from non-League Maidenhead United in August 2018.

He was confirmed by O'Neil as captain for this season at his press conference on Friday.

“I haven’t become vice-captain yet, but Max really important member of the group. The way he works, the way he trains and the way everyone talks about him — he's a really important contributor,» O'Neil said.

«The captaincy will be with Max and there are other people in the band who are more than capable of moving things forward and maintaining the standards we set. I am very pleased with the group's leadership.»

Wolves kick off the new season with a trip to Manchester United on Monday night.
