Nicolas Escobar refused to give things to his father
Pablo Escobar's relatives are arguing over a collection of some of his most valuable possessions, while descendants of the infamous drug lord feud over museum exhibits.
Nicolas Escobar, who describes himself as «don Pablo's favorite nephew», claims he is the rightful owner of luxury cars, motorcycles, designer clothes and rare photographs and wants them for an exhibition he opened in honor of the cocaine kingpin.
But his father, Roberto, Escobar's brother and cartel accountant, also claims ownership. over an unlikely hoard of Narco memorabilia.
The items were until recently housed in the Pablo Escobar Museum in Medellín, run by Roberto, which gave visiting tourists a snapshot of the billionaire drug lord's infamous life before being demolished in July. .
Nicholas told the Telegraph that his father, who reportedly wants him dead over a dispute, refused to hand over the property he claims he is entitled to inherit.
»My sister called me and said , which is impossible. try to break into [my father's] house,” said Nicholas, 53.
«If you come in,» she told me, «I'll be killed because our father gave the order.»
»Since then, I haven't been able to get what's really mine: my stuff that once belonged to Pablo,» he added. «He [Roberto] took these things from me.»
Nicholas claimed that his father sent hitmen at least four times to his home in the Colombian city of Medellin, where a wealthy criminal group operated its business in 1980- 1990s and 1990s.
“Now I have protection from the Colombian state, and this building has bulletproof doors,” he added from his museum office, which was surrounded by security.
“He [Roberto] still thinks he can do what he wants, that he is in the mafia, that he is the boss,” he said, never referring to him as his father, but always as “that man.”
The collection of luxury goods at the center of the controversy includes a pink Harley Davidson, as well as, allegedly, a gun that once belonged to Al Capone.
“These things are very old and luxurious,” Nicholas, whose own museum contains many cars and paintings, said of the collection.

“He [Roberto] told me that if I am a real man, I should go and take them [objects] from him. I'm not that stupid.»
The museum, which was run by Roberto, was demolished in July after it was revealed that it had been built without the necessary permits.
Since then, locals have begun to speculate that the real reason for the museum's closure was that the mayor was opposed to «drug tours» that glorified the city's dark past.
At the height of Pablo Escobar's success, he controlled 80 percent of the cocaine that was smuggled into the United States.
In parts of Medellin he is still remembered fondly. He cultivated the image of Robin Hood by building an entire neighborhood and was generous to the poor.
But the story is mostly grim. The Medellin Cartel paid young people from the slums to kill police officers, causing the city's murder rate to soar to the highest level in the world.
Escobar was also responsible for the bombing of the airliner and ordering the killing of thousands of others, including politicians and journalists.
Escobar was eventually shot to death on a rooftop in Medellin in 1993.
