Nokian renaming continues: names of summer and winter tires Ikon Tires are known

Now premium models of summer and winter tires produced at the plant in the Leningrad Region will be produced under the Ikon Autograph brand.

The fact that the Finnish tire manufacturer Nokian Tires decided to leave the Russian Federation and sell its local business became known at the end of June last year. The Russian company Tatneft acted as the buyer of these assets. As a result of the deal, she got a tire plant in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region), where the production of Nokian tires was previously launched. The company produced up to 17 million tires annually (of which about 60% were supplied to the markets of other countries).

Recall that PJSC Tatneft is engaged in oil and gas production and oil refining, has its own network of filling stations, and also develops and manufactures equipment for the oil and gas industry. The structure of Tatneft also includes Tatneft-Neftekhim, which owns Nizhnekamskshina, which produces tires for cars and trucks under the Kama and Viatti brands.

The deal was completed in March of the current year, and at the end of April it became known about the rebranding: Nokian Tires was renamed Ikon Tires. As the company noted earlier, this name is consonant with the English word icon, which can be translated into Russian as “standard”, “sign image”, “sample”, “idol”, “icon”.

The new owner has resumed the production of car tires at the plant in Vsevolozhsk: the production of summer and winter car tires in various price segments is now established here. The company explained that «the production processes and technologies have been preserved» in order to ensure the high quality of the products.

Now Ikon Tires has revealed to the market the name of the current product lines. It is known that premium models of summer and winter tires will be produced under a single brand — Ikon Autograph. As recalled in the representative office of the company, earlier these lines had different names: summer models were sold under the name Hakka, and winter ones — Hakkapeliitta. The manufacturer believes that the name Autograph is associated with driving comfort and safety.

The Vsevolozhsk plant Ikon Tires has also launched the production of tires in the mid-price segment, so far they are produced under the name Ikon Nordman, but later they will also be renamed. The new name is already known — Ikon Character. The company noted that these tires «are intended for buyers who value a combination of road control, quality and pragmatism.» jpg» />

Earlier, Ikon Tires announced that they assume obligations to service the production and extended warranties for tires previously sold in the Russian Federation under the Nokian Tires brand (regardless of the country of manufacture). In addition, it is noted that marketing programs will apply to products sold in professional tire retail — both under the old and under the new brand. the tire specialist has been working here since 2005. At the end of 2021, approximately 80% of Nokian Tires tires were produced in the Russian Federation. Earlier, the Finnish company noted that it plans to increase the capacity of enterprises in the US and Finland.
