Last week, the first spy photos of test samples of a new generation of a sedan known in some markets (including Russian) were published like Cerato. Thanks to them, we have the opportunity to evaluate how much the appearance of the car will change.
The Cerato model was first introduced in 2003. The name of the car comes from the Italian word, which means «brilliant, soaked in wax.» Initially, it was produced in the form of a sedan and a hatchback, and since 2007 hatchbacks have been brought into a separate family called cee'd. Today, the fourth generation of the model is on the assembly line, which premiered in early 2018, and in the spring of 2021, Cerato underwent a restyling. Now the next generation of the sedan is undergoing final tests, which will radically change its appearance.

The design will be made in the current style of the company's passenger models, which was initiated by the Kia K5 sedan. Cerato will get a narrow vertical grille visually integrated with the headlights. The head light blocks themselves will be made vertical and large enough in size, we have already seen something similar on the updated Sorento and Picanto. On the side, the most original element can be called the rear door handles, which will now be “hidden” in the door pillars, and the rear pillars are interesting for the original design of the moldings around the small windows. The sedan will receive the brand's already traditional full-width rear lights with their own pattern of LED lights. In addition, the car is shown with newly designed rims. By the way, in addition to the name Cerato (and Forte, as the model is called on the American market), the novelty can get the K4 index, now a mid-size sedan created for China is being produced under it.

There is no reliable information about the technical features of the future novelty yet. The current sedan model in the home market in Korea is offered with a naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol paired with a CVT, there is also a hatchback option with a 1.6 T-GDI turbo four and a 7-speed robotic transmission. In Russia, until recently, Cerato was offered with 1.6 MPI (128 hp) and 2.0 MPI (150 hp) gasoline engines, the first was combined with a six-speed «mechanics» or «automatic», the second — only 6AKP.
The next generation Cerato could premiere later this year or early next year.
