Avito Auto experts analyzed the dynamics of sales of used cars in the third quarter of 2023. According to experts, in July-September of this year, sales on the market increased by 14.2% compared to the same period last year. The average price of used cars in the third quarter of 2023 increased by 39.1% year-on-year and reached 640,000 rubles.
According to Avito Auto data, the sales leaders among brands have traditionally become (in descending order of sales share) : VAZ (LADA), Toyota, Kia, Hyundai and Volkswagen.
Sales of used cars continue to grow from quarter to quarter. The most noticeable growth was noted in the price segments from 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 rubles and from 3,000,000 rubles — by 81.8% and 80.6%, respectively. At the same time, the price increase in the segment from 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 per year was only 1.7%, in the segment from 3,000,000 rubles, prices decreased by 1.6%. Avito Auto experts compiled ratings of the best-selling used cars on the market in the third quarter of 2023 in three price segments: up to 1,500,000 rubles, from 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 rubles and over 3,000,000 rubles. Some models entered the top 10 in terms of sales in several price segments at once. As Avito Auto experts explain, buyers consider these models to be a reliable and practical choice enough to purchase both almost new models with low mileage and older cars.
The most popular models on the market for used cars over 3,000,000 rubles
The ranking of the best-selling used car models on the market with an average price of 3,000,000 rubles in July-September of this year is headed by Toyota Camry (3.5%), the average price of which was 3,540,000 rubles. Second place was shared by Land Cruiser (3%) and BMW X5 with an average price of 4,400,000 rubles and 6,800,000 rubles, respectively. In third place is the Land Cruiser Prado (2.5%), the average price of which is 4,400,000 rubles. The ranking is completed by the first-time entry from China, the Geely Monjaro (2.4%), the average price of which is 3,900,000 rubles.

Also in the top 10 most popular used car models are (in descending order of sales share): BMW 5 Series, Lexus RX, BMW X6, Lexus LX and Toyota RAV4.

In the price segment from 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 rubles, the rating of the best-selling used cars on the market is headed by Toyota Camry (3.8%), the average price of which reached 2,199,000 rubles. Kia Sportage (2.7%) with an average price of 2,095,000 rubles is in second place. Third place is occupied by Hyundai Creta (2.6%) with an average price of 1,850,000 rubles, fourth place is taken by Toyota RAV 4 (2%), the average price of which is 2,190,000 rubles. Volkswagen Tiguan (1.8%) with an average price of 2,345,000 rubles closes the top five in popularity in this price range.

In the ranking of the best-selling used budget models on the market in the second quarter of 2023, the first place is occupied by the VAZ (LADA) Priora (3.8%), the average price of which reached 430,000 rubles. In second position is the VAZ (LADA) Granta (3.3%), the average price of which is 300,000 rubles. Third place was taken by VAZ (LADA) 2114 Samara (2.8%) and Ford Focus (2.6%) with an average price of 155,000 rubles and 540,000 rubles, respectively. In fifth place is the VAZ (LADA) Kalina (2.4%), the average price of which is 530,000 rubles.
