The Chinese company Kaiyi Auto, affiliated with Chery, is becoming more and more independent: the new city electric car Kaiyi Shiyue has no direct analogue from Chery, and its design shamelessly copies the style of the latest smart models.
In Russia, the Kaiyi brand is currently represented by only three models, all of them are, in fact, restyled Chery, but the latest Kaiyi products already represent a fairly independent product , although Chery continues to be one of the shareholders of Kaiyi Auto and provides it with technological support.

The most recent example is the urban electric hatchback Kaiyi Shiyue (Shiyue means “to reach the moon” in Latinized Chinese): Chery has three models of this type, including the recently updated Chery QQ, all of which are rear-engine and rear-wheel drive, and the Kaiyi Shiyue has an electric motor located in front and rotates the front wheels, the rear suspension is semi-independent, with a transverse torsion beam, above which there is a lot of empty space. In terms of wheelbase (2160 mm), the Kaiyi Shiyue is identical to the Chery QQ Wujie Pro hatchback, but the dimensions of these two models are different, and there is nothing in common in the design either. Overall length of Kaiyi Shiyue — 3360 mm, width — 1700 mm, height — 1605 mm.

On the outside, Kaiyi Shiyue resembles smart #1 and smart #3. In theory, smart #2, which will soon replace the discontinued smart fortwo, may look something like the Kaiyi Shiyue, but we believe that smart #2 will still be more elegant, because the design of new models of this brand is still carried out by Mercedes- Benz.

In the cabin, Kaiyi Shiyue also diligently copies the stylistic solutions of the new smart phones, but in a number of details the cheapness is too noticeable — for example, the headrests of the rear seats are too small and integrated into the backrests, there will be practically no benefit or protection from them.
The full premiere of Kaiyi Shiyue has not yet taken place, today Kaiyi only announced his official name — Shiyue, before the hatchback was known under the code index i-EA 01. The electric motor power of Shiyue will be 35 kW (48 hp) or 40 kW (54 hp), the maximum range on one charge is about 300 km according to the CLTC cycle, the maximum speed is limited to 100 km/h.
How much the Shiyue will cost is still unknown, but it is clear that it will be the cheapest model in the Kaiyi range.
