The “green” family of the brand will be replenished by a compact SUV and another model – either a sedan or a cross-coupe. However, the company is not giving up on cars with internal combustion engines.
Next week, on October 12, Kia will hold an event in its native Korea called EV Day: as you might guess, it is dedicated to the brand’s electric vehicles. The company will again share its plans for a green future, and will also show current and upcoming models.

Kia accompanied its announcement with a teaser showing five electric cars, and three of them are already familiar to us: the cross-hatch EV6 and the “full-fledged” crossovers EV5 and EV9. By the way, if the “six” and “nine” have already entered the global market, the “five” is still preparing for the start of sales, and for now it is presented exclusively in Chinese specifications. It is within the framework of EV Day that the company should announce the characteristics of the “world” version of EV5.

Judging by the picture, one of them is a compact SUV: this five-door is tipped to have the EV3 index (but Kia itself has not yet announced the names of the new products), and it may also replace the “green” Kia Soul EV, which is made from a “hydrocarbon” cross. It is still difficult to say exactly which segment the second electric car belongs to. It looks like a sedan, although the model may well turn out to be a liftback, or Kia will even position it as a cross-coupe. Be that as it may, foreign specialized media believe that the electric car will be named EV4.

Most likely, the new products will be shown in the status of concepts, albeit close to production. The production versions will most likely be built on the E-GMP platform, which underlies the EV5, EV6 and EV9. We'll find out more details in a week.

Meanwhile, the brand does not refuse cars with internal combustion engines. So, in another press release (it was dedicated to global sales), Kia announced that in the near future it will introduce the restyled Carnival minivan and K5 sedan. In addition, today the new budget Kia K3 family was declassified — a purely gasoline four-door and hatchback will replace the “global” Kia Rio.
