Suzuki begins export deliveries of a new modification of its SUV.
The world premiere of the serial five-door Suzuki Jimny took place in India at the beginning of this year, only there they produce an extended version — Maruti Suzuki (a subsidiary of the Japanese company) is responsible for the production. The Indian market became the debut for such an all-terrain vehicle, and the three-door version of the current generation was not sold there and is not being sold (Maruti Suzuki also makes three-door vehicles, but exclusively for export). Well, now the start of deliveries to other regions has been announced: the five-door Suzuki Jimny will soon appear in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. The model was also announced in Australia, and is expected in Southeast Asia.
The length of the new modification is 3985 mm versus 3645 mm for the three-door global all-terrain vehicle, the wheelbase has been increased by the same 340 mm to 2590 mm. Ground clearance is 210 mm, like that of the “world” short Jimny. The trunk volume of the export five-door SUV has not yet been announced. The minimum figure for the Indian version is 211 liters; with the second row folded, the volume will increase to 332 liters. At the same time, the gallery can still more or less comfortably accommodate only two.
The engine has been switched from a three-door car — it is a naturally aspirated petrol KB15 1.5. In India, the engine is supplemented with a starter-generator, the output of “their” SUV is 105 hp. and 134 Nm. But, for example, in Costa Rica, the brochure of the five-door Suzuki Jimny does not indicate the “add-on weight”; the power of such an SUV is 100 hp. (130 Nm). The engine is combined with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic; the Jimny has rigidly connected all-wheel drive and a reduction gear.
In Costa Rica, for the extended Jimny, one package has been announced so far, it includes halogen headlights, ESP, regular air conditioning, multimedia system with 7-inch screen. However, in other countries there will probably be rich versions with climate control, LED optics, a 9-inch tablet and cruise control.

The first Indian-assembled Suzuki Jimny 5d should reach dealers this year, but a full-scale entry into the global market will take place in 2024. Suzuki has not officially announced its departure from Russia, but they have not announced any new products for us recently. So, probably, if the five-door Jimny appears in the Russian Federation, it will be through a parallel import scheme.
