The Islamist extremist group that David Cameron and Tony Blair tried to ban held an online event in which prominent members described the massacre. Israelis are 'good news' and 'egg on the face' of Jews state.

The event was one of several at which prominent British members of Hizb ut-Tahrir appeared to celebrate last week's attack by Hamas — despite the group previously insisting it «does not promote fear, crime or terrorism».

Prominent members of the group called on “Muslim armies” to now “move to liberate the entire land of Palestine.”

In one of the articles published on the British website of Hizb ut-Tahrir under entitled “Let October 7th be remembered,” it was stated that Muslims “were very happy about these events.”

The Telegraph understands some of the remarks were reported to the Metropolitan Police's Community Safety Trust (CST), which monitors antisemitism.

On Friday, ahead of this weekend's demonstrations, the Metropolitan Police said: «We will not tolerate celebrations terrorism or death. or tolerate anyone who incites violence.»

The group is also believed to be one of several being monitored by Whitehall officials after the Home Office warned its members «express the view that Islam fundamentally incompatible with the Western liberal democratic system.»

'Extremist organization'

Dave Rich, director of policy at CST, said: “Hizb ut-Tahrir is an extremist organization with a long history of overtly anti-Semitic statements. They seek to incite hatred and division in our society and must be brought to justice.»

In its statement, Hizb ut-Tahrir said that «it would be a lie to claim that Hizb ut-Tahrir has there is a long history of overtly anti-Semitic statements,” and insisted: “We do not support Hamas.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir strives to create a caliphate in the Middle East. Experts, including former members of the group, say it is a gateway to violent extremism.

It is banned in countries such as Germany, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, but not in the UK.

In 2021, The Telegraph newspaper reported that the group was intensifying its activities in the UK.

Since last Saturday, the day Hamas killed nearly 1,300 people in Israel, Hizb ut-Tahrir has held a series of discussion events on the Twitter Spaces platform, which allows organizations to hold mass audio conversations related to the unfolding events.

< p>Opening the debate on Saturday after it was revealed that terrorists had infiltrated Israel and killed Jewish civilians, Taji Mustafa — one of four prominent figures listed on the British Hizb ut-Tahrir website — said: «This is a day that most will remember from U.S. inshallah [with God's help] because this is a day of news, good news… a truly amazing day in the sense that some things that were said to be impossible, now we see the possibility of it.”

In a discussion attended by 2,800 people, Mr Mustafa added: «The militants from occupied Gaza, inside this huge prison, were able to infiltrate the Zionist entity, and the fear and flight of Zionists left and right and center was truly what was a spectacle.» .

Mr. Mustafa continued: “The question that I want us to try to keep in mind throughout this Space is: how can we help our ummah [community] in Palestine so that the land will be liberated?”

Yahya Abu Yusuf, described as Hizb ut-Tahrir's media spokesman in the UK, then said: «Alhamdulillah [praise be to God], we woke up to this news and it was, to put it in words, egg on the face occupation forces in Palestine.

“Some people today have taken something back or invaded to be the spark leading to a revolution… The fact that they were able to do so much with so little is a completely useless idea that a truly equipped army cannot achieve much. .. a fully equipped army can do a lot, and they… really can just destroy and end Israel's existence.

“It is often said that in one hour the whole place can be taken.”

These remarks echo Hizb ut-Tahrir's campaign in Britain calling on Muslims to support the «liberation of Palestine» by «Muslim armies» — defined in the group's discussions as the armed forces of countries such as Egypt and Jordan.

In a later discussion on Tuesday, Mr Mustafa said: «Muslims outside should call their relatives in the armies of the Muslim world and say this is a matter of jihad, this is a matter of liberation from occupation, you trained Soldiers, you are our cousins, our uncles, you need to move to liberate the entire land of Palestine.»

An article published on the British Hizb ut-Tahrir website after last weekend's Hamas attacks said: «Although yesterday's revenge, may not offer a lasting solution in the current context, it becomes a poignant expression of the overwhelming emotions that have engulfed the Ummah.»

«The events of October 7 caused a wave of joy and delight. among Muslims around the world.

“For Muslims, Palestine holds a deeply cherished place in their hearts and souls. The people of Palestine are an integral part of the global Muslim community. Their triumphs and struggles resonate with Muslims on a deep level, engendering a sense of collective pride and unity.” In a statement, Hizb ut-Tahrir said: “We do not support the Hamas group, but we support the people of Palestine.”

“We do not encourage people to commit such actions, but instead want political change.” that the resources of Muslim countries be used to liberate and rescue the beleaguered people of Palestine.

“To say that Palestinians should be free from this brutal occupation is not a divisive statement.”

Sir Tony Blair promised to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir as part of a plan to combat extremism following the July 7, 2005 bombings, but the plan was abandoned. Mr Cameron also said he would ban the group, but did not do so.
