The Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared a list of models recommended for purchase for Russian civil servants.
The changes that the Russian car market is going through have also affected the choice of models for local officials. If earlier some of the civil servants could purchase cars, for example, German premium brands, now they do not have such an opportunity: most foreign companies have now left the Russian Federation. Thus, BMW no longer produces cars at Avtotor (a plant in the Kaliningrad region), and Mercedes-Benz got rid of all local assets, including its own plant in the Moscow region.

Now the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has prepared a list of cars recommended for purchase for civil servants: it lists not only certain brands, but also specific models.

As we see, there is only one “purely” heavenly brand on the list – Haval, cars are produced at a plant in the Tula region. Although in fact there are, of course, more “Chinese” in this list: for example, the indicated Muscovites and “green” Evolutes are JAC badge engineering models in the first case; Dongfeng, as well as its sub-brands, are in the second.

The department recommended that civil servants, when purchasing, first of all pay attention to models with a high level of localization of production: in 2023, the required minimum is 3.2 thousand points. At the same time, there is a clarification that the purchase of cars with an indicator below the specified threshold is possible, but this will require special permission from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The department noted that “this decision helps both support the demand for Russian cars and further develop the domestic automotive industry, increase production volumes and modernize production, and improve the model range.

In the future, the list of cars recommended for purchase for government employees will expand as new models appear on the assembly lines of local sites. Thus, Evolute is preparing to add the i-Van minivan, as well as the i-Jet crossover, to the line; Moskvich will also have several new products, including a pair of SUVs with indexes 5 and 8. In turn, Lada is also going to expand the line with new crossovers and of the Iskra family, which will later replace Granta. AVTOVAZ also intends to start producing the “stretched” Vesta under its own name Aura (in the preview), which is “tailored” specifically for purchases for officials.
