Finally a win at home. Brentford won their first Premier League win this season at their Gtech Community Stadium in a performance that begged the question: how did it take so long?
The match was so one-sided that Vincent's Burnley Kompany will be lucky not to suffer further damage on goal difference.
Statistics may be used to paint a skewed picture, but if anything, 23 attempts from 10 on target does little to reflect Brentford's performance. dominance.
Manager Thomas Frank said: “The first half was one of our best performances this season: great pressure, great energy and great intensity. It is a great honor and happiness for me to work here as the head coach for five years now. Of course, it's more fun to celebrate a victory. Perhaps I’ll do this with my wife, a glass of red wine and tapas.”
The main culprit for Brentford's early debauchery was Neal Maupay, although he was not to blame for Ware's decision to deny him the opening goal when the wrong Brentford player was found to be offside.
It didn't matter in the 23rd minute , when Frank Onyeka won the ball in midfield and Brian Mbeumo crossed the ball to Yoane Wisse and it turned into an empty net.
The goal allowed Brentford to move forward freely. If it weren't for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, the match would have been over by half-time.
Two saves in particular stood out. While Wissa saved Christian Nørgaard's shot, demonstrating the England Under-21 goalkeeper's reflexes as he instinctively threw out his left arm, his athleticism was then on full display as he arched his back to tip over Maupay's shot on the turn.
Any hope of a Burnley comeback was dashed immediately after Brentford's blistering run ended with Maupay passing the ball to Mbeumo, who fired a sumptuous left-foot shot into the top corner.
Burnley substitute Luca Coleoso fired wide of an unguarded goal when he inexplicably tried to use his left foot instead of his right, before the visitors then sent off Connor Roberts for a second bookable offense when he pulled back Wissa.
In the 87th minute, Brentford replaced Saman Ghoddos to seal the win with a rising strike from the edge of the box.
The defiant Company said: “You can't have 45 minutes like we had in the first half. But as a band, since I've been here, we've always been a band that reacts to moments like these. We absolutely need to do this again. There is no other way.»
