Tokyo new products: what concepts have Mitsubishi, Honda, Subaru and Lexus prepared?

The Japan Mobility exhibition continues in the capital of Japan, to which many manufacturers brought the results of their work in the field of technology and automotive design.

We have already described some of the exhibits at the exhibition in Tokyo in more detail in separate publications. For example, Toyota declassified the “green” concepts of the FT-3e crossover and the FT-Se sports car, Mazda showed the Iconic SP, which is a harbinger of the new MX-5 with a hybrid power plant based on the RPD, and Nissan demonstrated the electric supercar Hyper Force, which showed how could be the next generation GT-R. Other Japanese manufacturers also have something to surprise the guests of the Japan Mobility Show.

Mitsubishi brought to the exhibition the conceptual minivan D:X, which is a harbinger of the new Delica. The show car has a spacious interior designed for six passengers, a massive plastic body kit around the perimeter of the body, LED T-shaped running lights located at the base of the windshield, and between them there is an illuminated brand logo; The rear lights are designed in a similar way. The concept also received a roof box, a “transparent hood”, allowing the driver to see what is directly in front of the wheels, as well as a “flattened” steering wheel, a virtual instrument panel and speakers in the headrests.

There is not much information yet about the “filling” of the concept. The manufacturer said that the Mitsubishi D:X was equipped with a rechargeable hybrid power plant and an all-wheel drive system, but the details remained “behind the scenes.”

Honda decided to show a pre-production concept of a “green” car at an exhibition in Tokyo Prelude coupe. It is worth noting that in the brand’s lineup there was a model with the same name – a two-door model was produced between 1978 and 2001. The company explained that based on the sports car presented today, a new product will be created that will inherit the familiar name, but will be larger compared to the coupe of previous generations.

The sports car received a long hood, running lights in the shape of boomerangs, below – the main headlight units and a luminous strip that connects them to each other. An air intake is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper, and the rear lights are designed as a single thin line running across the entire width of the rear. The prototype also has retractable door handles, a black sloping roof, exterior mirror housings and side glazing trim, as well as large-diameter wheels are decorated in the same color. All that is known about the Prelude technology so far is that it will be fully electric.

The Lexus brand presented a couple of concepts made in the same corporate style. One of them received the abbreviation LF-CZ, which stands for Lexus Future Zero-Emission Catalyst. This conceptual liftback is based on a new modular platform; it is also known that the prototype received Direct4 all-wheel drive and a drive-by-wire system (like the Lexus RZ). The length of the show car is 4750 mm, width – 1880 mm, height – 1390 mm, and wheelbase – 2890 mm. The production version based on this concept will appear in 2026, the manufacturer intends to achieve a drag coefficient of less than 0.2.

The second concept – Lexus LF-ZL – is a prototype of a potential flagship full-size crossover. The “trolley” is the same as that of the liftback, the equipment is completely electric, there are no details about the installation. The length of this SUV is 5300 mm, width – 2020 mm, height – 1700 mm, and the distance between the axles is 3350 mm. Taking into account the flat floor, the show car received a very spacious interior. The company has not yet officially confirmed that this concept will later form the basis of the brand’s serial model.
