The French brand is preparing to expand the sales geography of its new SUV.
Today there are two models in the Citroen range with the name C3 Aircross: in Europe a subcompact is available on the old PF1 platform (such a car was also sold in Russia), and in the spring the company introduced a three-row cross on the CMP “trolley”, which is addressed to developing countries. The production of the new SUV has been launched in India and Brazil. The crossover entered the Indian market in September, but the Brazilian five-door is just preparing for the start of sales: the local division of Stellantis is releasing details about the model in portions, and data on the technology has now been revealed.

If in terms of design, the South American Citroen C3 Aircross generally repeated its Indian brother, then the filling of the SUVs is different. The model will be offered to Brazilians with the 1.0 Turbo T200 turbocharger from Fiat: this engine is produced locally, it is installed, for example, in the Fiat Pulse and Fiat Fastback SUVs (by the way, another “French” is equipped with a Fiat engine — the Argentine-assembled Peugeot 208 hatchback).

In Brazil, the engine, traditionally for this country, will run on both gasoline and ethanol. In the first case, the output will be 125 hp, in the second – 130 hp, maximum torque – 200 Nm. There is only one gearbox – a variator. In India, we recall that the C3 Aircross has a 1.2 petrol turbo engine of the PureTech family, which produces 110 hp. and 190 Nm and is combined exclusively with a six-speed manual. In any case, the Citroen crossover has only front-wheel drive.

The dimensions of the cars for India and Brazil are the same. Length – 4.32 meters, wheelbase – 2.67 meters. The passport ground clearance is 200 mm. Like the Indian SUV, the Brazilian one will be available with a five- or seven-seater interior. The South American crossover is also promised 17-inch wheels, an air conditioning system (three-row cars have a unit on the ceiling with separate deflectors), a digital instrument panel (7 inches) and a multimedia system with a 10-inch tablet.

A full presentation of the new Citroen C3 Aircross in Brazil is expected in November. As you might guess, locally produced cars will also be supplied to other countries in the region, while Indian-assembled SUVs will later be sent to Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, the European C3 Aircross will also soon enter the next generation , but it will be a completely different model.
