The German company continues testing the next generation X3 crossover, and fresh spy photos allow us to see new features of the car's appearance.
The history of the X3 model began in 2003, it was then that the premiere of the first generation SUV with the factory index E83 took place. It also became the second crossover in the brand’s lineup after the X5. Today on the assembly line is the third generation of the car with the index G01, which was first demonstrated in the summer of 2017, and 4 years later the model received a restyling. The time is approaching for a planned change of generations, and test samples demonstrate more and more details of the new body.

The overall style of the new product will be made in the style of the X1 model, presented last summer. Key door handles will be borrowed from it, as well as a simpler shape of the sidewalls. At the front, they will be united by a more angular design compared to the current X3, while the new crossover will receive original headlights with L-shaped LED running lights, evoking associations with the restyled “five” of the previous generation. The headlights with curved strips of LEDs are similar to the current X3 and the restyled X5, but the most interesting feature of the rear of the new crossover will be the license plate niche moved to the bumper — previously such a solution was used only on the brand’s coupe-shaped crossovers.

Like all other new BMW models with a classic layout, the next generation X3 will be built on the CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform. It is expected that the crossover will receive a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, and the most powerful version will change the M40i index to M50i. Of course, a full-fledged M version will remain, but there will be no all-electric modification of the iX3; instead, a crossover on a new platform will appear in 2025.
