The world premiere of the fourth generation Renault Master will take place in two weeks at the Solutrans commercial vehicle exhibition in Lyon, France.

The current third-generation Renault Master has been in production since 2010, the last restyling of the van was in 2019, the electric version in its range appeared in 2017 — today it is called Master E-Tech, in 2021 Master acquired small-scale hydrogen versions. Until 2021, Renault Master had a clone of Opel Movano, after which Movano came under the banner of the Stellantis corporation and became a clone of Fiat Ducato. The Master's clone under the Nissan brand is still in service, since 2021 it is called Nissan Interstar (formerly called Nissan NV400).

The “third” Master did not become a bestseller in its class, but it brought and still brings stable income to Renault; in the first three quarters of this year, its sales even increased noticeably: according to the company itself, 78,799 copies of this van were sold worldwide (+11 % compared to APPG). The first generation Renault Master debuted in 1980; since then, a van with that name has sold more than 3 million units worldwide. The significant disadvantages of the “third” Master are one of the lowest levels of active safety in its class and the weak technical characteristics of the electric version — these shortcomings, presumably, will be completely corrected in the new generation.
New Renault Master
Today, Renault published the first teaser of the new Master, the fourth generation van is shown in profile in a wind tunnel, which hints at a good development of the body shape, it will make a significant contribution to improving efficiency: the Renault press service reports that the energy consumption of the battery version will be reduced immediately by 21%, fuel consumption for diesel versions will decrease by 1.5 l/100 km. It is still unknown whether hydrogen power plants will remain in the range.
The “fourth” Master will be produced in the same place as the “third”: at the Sovab plant (a subsidiary of the Renault Group) in the French commune of Batilly , which is conveniently located near the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The exact date for the premiere of the new Master has not been announced; the Solutrans exhibition will run from November 21 to 25 — perhaps the fourth generation van will be completely declassified a little in advance.
We add that in October the Renault Group and Volvo Group announced the creation of a joint venture with the aim of developing and producing compact electric vans.
