The third generation SUV can already be ordered in Europe. While the model is offered with a reduced range, more versions will appear next year.
The world premiere of the new generation Volkswagen Tiguan crossover took place in September. In the Old World, “live” sales will start only in the first quarter of next year, but they have already begun accepting applications: for example, in the brand’s native Germany, a model configurator has come to life on the local consumer website — with trim levels and prices. But first, let’s briefly recall the “third” Tiguan.

The new SUV is based on the MQB Evo platform, the front still has McPherson struts, and the rear has a multi-link suspension. The VW Tiguan intended for Europe has added 30 mm in length (now 4539 mm), but the wheelbase has not changed (2680 mm). But the trunk has become more spacious: 652 liters versus 615 liters for its predecessor. The exterior was designed in the current “rounded” Volkswagen style, which is more typical for electric cars. In the cabin there are separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system, with a second tablet rising above the front panel. The usual gearbox selector is no longer there — the right steering column lever is responsible for controlling the transmission.

At the moment, the new VW Tiguan is offered with a reduced range. So, now you can choose a “mild” hybrid with a 1.5 eTSI petrol turbo-four (130 or 150 hp), which has a half-cylinder shutdown system and a 48-volt starter-generator. In addition, an SUV with a junior 2.0 TDI turbodiesel with a power of 150 hp is available for order. All listed variants have 7DSG and front-wheel drive only. Later it will be possible to order cars with a petrol 2.0 TSI (204 or 265 hp) or a 193-horsepower 2.0 TDI diesel engine (these Tiguans are all-wheel drive), as well as rechargeable hybrids with a 1.5 TSI and a six-speed eDSG gearbox (total output — 204 or 272 hp).

The crossover has four trim levels. The basic one does not have a separate name (just Tiguan), it includes LED optics, 17-inch wheels, a rain sensor, fabric upholstery, digital tidy, a multimedia system with a 12.9-inch diagonal screen, single-zone climate control, a mode selection system movement (it can be controlled using a washer on the central tunnel), rear view camera, auto-braking system with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, marking monitoring and road sign recognition systems.

The next oldest version of Life adds atmospheric interior lighting, three-zone climate control, parking assistant, and adaptive cruise control. The Elegance version includes extended chrome decor, additional LED strips front and rear, 18-inch wheels, more comfortable ergoActive front seats with a massage function, heated steering wheel and seats, and a contactless trunk opening system. Finally, the top-end VW Tiguan R-Line has a more impressive body kit, an original radiator grille, and 19-inch wheels.

In Germany, the price of a petrol “mild hybrid” Volkswagen Tiguan ranges from 36,600 to 47,185 euros, a diesel crossover costs from 41 025 to 49,615 euros. The basic SUV of the previous generation in the brand’s homeland cost 32,930 euros (version with mechanics), but the price list of the “second” Tiguan has already been removed from the German website. But the extended former VW Tiguan Allspace is still in service — from 41,940 euros (the premiere of the new stretched Tiguan is still ahead).
