Shelby takes the stock Ford F-250 as the basis for its Super Baja in the Lariat Ultimate 4×4 configuration, equipped with a 6.7-liter V8 Power Stroke turbodiesel (482 hp, 1424 Nm) paired with a 10-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission. The forced factory version of the same engine produces 507 hp. and 1627 Nm – this is important, since the Shelby power unit in this case does not touch and pays all attention to the suspension and style.

The word Baja in the name refers to the series of off-road racing of the same name across the steppes and deserts, where the car's suspension is often subject to shock loads.
