The Japanese company has not yet officially commented on the information about the name of the future model. It is assumed that the new product will be part of the Land Cruiser family.
Toyota FJ Cruiser is a compact SUV, which features a retro design. The Japanese company has been producing it since 2006, and in 2014 the model left its main market – the USA. Three years later, the FJ Cruiser was excluded from the lineup in the home market, and in October 2022, sales also ceased in the Middle Eastern market: a thousand cars of the limited edition Final Edition were then produced for customers in Saudi Arabia.

It was previously reported that the Toyota FJ Cruiser will have a successor, which is tipped to enter the global market. There is an assumption that the Japanese manufacturer previously shared a teaser of the future SUV: at the end of the presentation of the current Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (in some markets – simply Land Cruiser), which took place in early August, an image of silhouettes of new products appeared on the screen, with one of them representing a small car with “squared” shapes.
At the end of September, there was already speculation in the media about the name of the future compact SUV: it was expected that it might be called Land Hopper. However, during the Japan Mobility Show it became known that the company registered this name for the conceptual folding tricycle presented at the exhibition.

Now a new potential name for the future SUV has emerged. According to the Chizai Watch website, Toyota recently filed a new trademark application in Japan – Land Cruiser FJ: it is possible that the new product will be given this name (in fact, the application itself does not oblige the company to use the registered trademark as a name for any or models). If the information is confirmed, the new product will obviously join the Land Cruiser family.
So far, there are no official details about the successor to the Toyota FJ Cruiser. There is a possibility that the production car will borrow some solutions from the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV concept, which was first presented at the end of 2021. Then the Japanese corporation presented its “green” strategy, according to which 30 new electric vehicles under the Toyota and Lexus brands should enter the market before the beginning of the next decade. New pictures of the Compact Cruiser EV show car were published last summer.
According to preliminary data , the new product will be based on a shortened version of the GA-F platform. Previously, it was assumed that the compact SUV would initially have versions equipped with traditional gasoline engines, as well as hybrid power plants; later, modifications with all-electric “stuffing” will probably appear, and the top version will most likely have all-wheel drive.
The other day it became known that Toyota could release a cheap compact pickup truck based on the IMV 0 concept. Probably, a budget truck, addressed primarily to the markets of ASEAN countries, may be called Hilux Champ.
