YEKATERINBURG, November 12. The police will check the data about the staged abduction of a 10-year-old girl in Salekhard in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Earlier, the Baza Telegram channel reported that scammers called the schoolgirl and said that her parents had an accident and they needed money, and she should throw away her cell phone and get into the taxi she ordered. While she was being taken to the village of Aksarka, which is located 50 kilometers from Salekhard, the girl’s mother received a call from scammers who said that the child had been stolen and she had to prepare 2 million rubles. The taxi driver did not drop the girl off in an unknown place, which saved her, as follows from the publication.
““The fact has been registered and an investigation is underway,” said the agency’s interlocutor. The department did not disclose details of the incident.
As the regional department of the Investigative Committee added, the incident happened on the evening of Friday, November 10. “A local resident’s phone received an incoming call from an unknown man from an unknown number. During the telephone conversation, the man said that her child had been kidnapped and, through deception, demanded that funds be transferred to his bank account… An investigation was organized into this fact under Article 159 of the Criminal Code RF (fraud),” noted the Investigative Committee.
