The new product is expected to go on sale in the European market in 2026. The starting price tag of the “crumbs” most likely will not exceed 23 thousand euros.
The French company Renault introduced the Twingo back in 1992; since then, the model has managed to change generations a couple of times. The current third generation city car, developed as part of a partnership with Daimler and its smart brand, debuted in 2019. At the beginning of 2021, it became known that the third generation would be the last for the model. Now there is information about the successor to the Twingo.

It is assumed that the successor to the Renault Twingo will be a subcompact electric car, which the French company is preparing for the European market. According to Automotive News Europe, a prototype of the new product will be presented tomorrow, November 15, as part of a special event for investors. At the same time, the production version of this “green” supermini will go on sale only in 2026.

According to the agency, the subcompact electric car will be produced under the Renault brand. In the hierarchy of the brand, it will be one step below the Renault 5 hatchback, which is just getting ready for presentation (we previously published pictures of a camouflaged prototype of the “electric hatch”). Sources said that production of the as-yet unnamed city car will be established at the company’s plant in Slovenia. Now the Renault Twingo, equipped with an internal combustion engine, is produced here.

It is expected that in Europe the starting price of an entry-level Renault electric car will not exceed 23 thousand euros (in the British market it will be about 20 thousand pounds sterling). According to the company's CEO Luca de Meo, the source of inspiration for the creation of the new subcompact electric vehicle was the popular kei cars in Japan, which are limited in both size and power. He added that he wants to “translate this concept into a European language.”
Presumably, the new Renault supermini will be based on a budget version of the CMF-BEV platform, on which the upcoming Renault 5 and more will be based the sporty closest relative is the Alpine A290 (this fall the prototype of the hot hatch was also captured by spy photographers). In the photo: Dacia Spring Extreme 1/2 In the photo: Dacia Spring Extreme 2/2
