    Ron DeSantis praises Kemi Badenoch's fight against 'outlandish ideology'

    Ron DeSantis praised Kemi Badenoch for helping fight “outlandish ideology” and ensure society is governed by “sound principles.”

    On Tuesday, the Secretary of Business and Commerce visited Jacksonville, Florida, to complete a trade agreement between the UK and the Sunshine State.

    Before signing the memorandum of understanding, Mr. DeSantis praised the conservative lawmaker for protecting institutions from “ideological entertainment.”

    “The Secretary of State and I have also done work in our respective areas to make sure that our institutions and our society are governed sound principles, not some outlandish ideology that we see,” the Florida governor said at a press conference. /p>

    “We're seeing some of this on some college campuses and other parts of this country with the Hamas attacks on Israel, and you just shake your head when you see some of it. they're doing what they're doing there: burning American flags, tearing down American flags.”

    “And I think that's really important because ultimately institutions end up at the mercy of ideology. They simply will not be reliable for the development of our society.”

    Ms. Badenoch said Brexit and the decision to “take back control of our trade policy is something that I know has resonated with many Americans.” , adding: “It is this freedom that lies at the heart of what is at stake in the agreement we sign today.”

    Mr DeSantis, who has long positioned himself as the Republican presidential candidate, is determined suppress 'woke ideology', praised Ms Badenoch for her 'war on woke' when he visited Britain in April.

    He told The Sunday Telegraph that during their meeting, MP Saffron Walden “praised what we're doing in Florida” and praised “her efforts to make sure it doesn't corrupt British society.”

    Mr DeSantis' staff also tweeted a photo of the two politicians meeting, saying they were “two great conservative mission warriors.”

    U.K.-Florida trade pact is designed to make it easier, faster and cheaper for each other's firms to do business, with a particular focus on space, financial technology, artificial intelligence and legal services.

    Trade between the UK and Florida is valued at more than £5 billion a year , but could expand under the new memorandum.

    This is the seventh such deal between the UK and US states. The UK continues to negotiate with several other states, including Texas, New York, California, Colorado and Illinois.

    Ms Badenoch has made progress in negotiations with the US federal government on a wider trade agreement.
