ST. PETERSBURG, November 17 Russian President Vladimir Putin said that they are trying to cancel Russian culture , but this fails, the policy of abolition is inherently neo-colonial and anti-cultural.
““Recently (unfriendly countries — ed.) they have been trying to abolish our culture, but this is impossible,” Putin said at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg international cultural forum.
According to him, they are trying to abolish culture abroad, which is based on true freedom, mercy, love for people and spirituality. “Russia’s cancellation policy is inherently anti-cultural, neo-colonial, racist,” he emphasized.
Putin recalled the enormous interest in the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
“His online audience has exceeded 50 million people, half of whom are Europeans who do not want anyone to decide for them what music to listen to, what to watch and what to read. In the modern world, it is impossible to cancel such things. It’s strange that people who are trying to do this do not understand this,” he concluded.
During his stay at the forum, Putin also toured the suite of halls of the State Hermitage General Staff building.
He, in particular, visited the hall where Italian modern sculpture was presented. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky.
The main headquarters of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg is a famous museum and architectural and historical monument.
