Ukrainian military source reported to CNN that «non-Sudanese military» carried out a series of drone strikes and a ground assault on the Rapid Support Forces near the North African country's capital.

Moscow struggled to replace mercenaries with their official forces following the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner leader who died in a plane crash two months after leading a failed coup against the Russian military in late June.

After Prigozin's death, Russia attempted to bring Wagner fighters under state control by ordering them to sign an oath of allegiance, and the Kremlin has repeatedly said the group does not exist as a legal entity.

And a large group of former Wagner fighters has now begun training with special forces from the southern Russian region of Chechnya, Chechen field commander Ramzan Kadyrov said on Monday.

“I am glad that today the ranks of the famous Akhmat detachment include fighters who have excellent combat experience and have proven themselves to be brave and combat-ready warriors,» he said.

Kadyrov published a video accompanied by rousing music, showing soldiers undergoing combat training, including some with Wagner symbols on their uniforms and masks on their faces.
