Large sedan Chery Arrizo 8 has changed its name and design

The Chinese four-door now has a gas-electric version. This modification should hit the domestic market before the end of this year; subsequently, the hybrid may well reach Russia.

A week and a half ago, Chery announced a new electrified line in China, for which the name Fulwin (in Chinese sounds like Fengyun) was revived. Let us remember that this was the name of the first production model of the Chery brand, which debuted in 1999. By the way, later that car had an heir, and he is familiar to Russians: we are talking about the Amulet. So, during the presentation of the new series, the conceptual four-door Fulwin A9 and the Fulwin T11 crossover were demonstrated. However, the first-born of the Fulwin family will be another car – the A8 sedan. The premiere of the G8 product took place as part of the Guangzhou Auto Show taking place these days.

The Fulwin A8 is not a completely new model — it is a rechargeable hybrid version of the Chery Arrizo 8, also available in the Russian Federation. Moreover, the hybrid is presented in two versions: one of them differs little in appearance from the original sedan, while the second — with the Pro prefix — has an original front part. Thus, the Pro version received a new bumper, and the radiator grille of such a car consists of two parts: the upper one has many holes and no frame; shiny horizontal “strokes” were placed on the lower one. The feed is the same as that of the purely petrol Arrizo 8, except that the exhaust pipes are hidden under the bumper.

Inside, the Fulwin A8 repeated the “traditional” four-door, the only difference is in the colors of the finishing materials. There is a display, that is, a combined virtual instrument panel and multimedia system screen, a separate touch strip that is responsible for climate control, a truncated steering wheel, and door-mounted “remotes” for seat settings (like Mercedes).

The C-DM hybrid sedan installation includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (156 hp) and a pair of electric motors. According to preliminary data, the Fulwin A8/A8 Pro has a battery with a capacity of 18.3 kWh; on electric power alone, the four-door will travel more than 100 km on the WLTC cycle, with a total range of 1,400 km (also on WLTC).

Expected that in China sales of the Fulwin A8 will start before the end of this year, prices have not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, the Russian office of Chery recently announced the creation of the sub-brand Chery NEV, under which we will sell hybrids and electric cars . It is possible that this line will also include a hybrid G8.
