The popular subcompact crossover has also received improved electronic driver assistants, making driving even safer.
< p>Toyota Yaris Cross debuted in April 2020; this is not a cross version of the Yaris hatchback, but a separate model on the GA-B platform with its own body. Europe became the main sales market for the Yaris Cross; in the first three quarters of this year alone, the SUV sold 146,294 units here. (Toyota data), of which 138,952 have a hybrid powertrain. The purely “hydrocarbon” Yaris Cross has already left most markets; only hybrid versions have been announced for the updated crossover, but now there are two of them – Hybrid 115 and Hybrid 130.
The basic version of the Hybrid 115 is essentially the same as before, but with a new name: a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine (92 hp, 120 Nm) is paired with an electromechanical a variator into which a traction electric motor and a generator are implanted, the maximum total output of the power plant is 116 hp. and 141 Nm, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 11.2 s.
The Hybrid 130 version is new, it will be offered in combination with expensive trim levels and on the sports Yaris Cross GR Sport (has a sports decor and sports suspension settings): the internal combustion engine is the same, but the electromechanical variator and control program are new, the generator power and torque have been increased electric motor, the maximum total output as a result has grown to 132 hp. and 185 Nm, acceleration time to “hundreds” was reduced to 10.7 s. The maximum speed of both versions is 170 km/h.

The Hybrid 115 and Hybrid 130 versions are front-wheel drive by default, but all-wheel drive is offered as an option: the rear wheels are driven by a separate low-power electric motor (5.3 hp, 52 Nm), which helps to move off confidently on slippery roads and slightly improves traction capabilities and vehicle handling. With all-wheel drive, the Yaris Cross Hybrid 115 accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds, and the Hybrid 130 version in 11.3 seconds.
When driving, the Yaris Cross has become quieter: under the hood of the updated crossover, a new adaptive damper has appeared on the left side of the engine and a noise-reducing resonator at the inlet, an additional layer of felt has been glued to the hood, the single-layer sound insulation of the front panel in the cabin has been replaced with a three-layer one, the windshield and side door windows became thicker.

The exterior design of the Yaris Cross has not changed in any way, but there are new color options and new wheel designs. The main updates in the interior are relevant for the top versions: they now have a large, fully virtual 12.3-inch instrument panel with four graphics options (Smart, Casual, Sporty, Tough) and a new Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with a 10.5-inch touch screen (there is voice control, over-the-air updating and wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone interfaces). Simpler versions have the same instrument panel with a 7-inch screen and a 9-inch multimedia screen.

The electronic driver assistants included in the Toyota T-Mate package now work more efficiently thanks to new cameras and longer-range radars. The driver condition monitoring system will automatically stop the car and unlock the doors if it realizes that the driver has become unwell. The operation of adaptive cruise control has been improved: the speed range of its use has been expanded, the response to interference has become more accurate and smooth.
Prices for the updated Toyota Yaris Cross have not yet been announced; the pre-reform crossover costs in Germany from 25 340 euros.
