CHELYABINSK, November 21Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Development of Specially Protected Natural Areas of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Alexei Yakovlev was suspected of taking a bribe, a source said.
A source in the regional law enforcement agencies clarified that a criminal case has been opened against Yakovlev under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ( receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).
According to him, employees of the FSB Directorate for the Chelyabinsk Region discovered the fact that Yakovlev received a bribe in the amount of more than 1 million rubles from the head of the Taganay National Park, Elvina Novoselova, for general patronage at work. The official was detained by employees of the regional FSB Directorate at Sheremetyevo airport and taken from Moscow to Chelyabinsk for investigative actions.
Yakovlev, before moving to the Ministry of Natural Resources in 2021, served as director of the Taganay National Park in the Chelyabinsk region ( 2010-2020). After Yakovlev left, his deputy Novoselova first acted as director, and in October 2021 she was appointed director of the national park.
Taganay National Park was created on March 5, 1991, its area is 56.8 thousand hectares. The park is home to 749 species of vascular plants, including 12 species included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation, 56 species of mammals, 192 species of birds, and the park also contains the largest stone deposit — the Bolshaya Kamennaya River, 6 km long and 100-200 m wide. , up to 4-6 m deep.
