Geely revealed the design of its new Galaxy E8 sedan in mid-October, and at the end of the same month, the manufacturer held an online presentation and held a separate screening for Chinese media. Well, the public premiere of the serial four-door with the announcement of its characteristics took place at the Guangzhou Motor Show, which opened a few days ago. Let us remind you that Galaxy is a separate family created this year specifically for electrified cars. The E8 sedan will become the third and most expensive model in the line; it will join the younger four-door L6 and the L7 crossover. Moreover, if the already sold “six” and “seven” have a hybrid installation, then the “eight” is a full-fledged electric car.

The Geely Galaxy E8 is based on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, while the Galaxy L6 and Galaxy L7 are based on the E-CMA “cart” (a type of CMA, Compact Modular Architecture). By the way, other models of the Geely holding were also built at SEA, among them, for example, the Zeekr and Polestar electric trains, as well as the green Volvo EM90 minivan. The length of the E8 is 5010 mm, width – 1920 mm, height – 1465 mm, wheelbase – 2925 mm. Thus, in terms of its dimensions, the E8 is comparable to the Exeed Sterra ES/Exlantix E03 electric sedan. The Cd coefficient of the “eight” is only 0.199.
The “simple” versions of the Galaxy E8 have a 400-volt electrical system and one electric motor on the rear axle that produces 272 hp. Such sedans are equipped with batteries with a capacity of 62 or 76 kWh, a power reserve of 550 and 665 km, respectively (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle). The top version has a dual-motor installation, that is, all-wheel drive: the power of the electric motor installed on the front axle is 224 hp, the second – 421 hp, the total output is 646 hp. This option is equipped with a 76 kWh battery, the range is the same 665 km. It is reported that the all-wheel drive sedan can reach the first “hundred” in 3.49 seconds.

The appearance of the Geely Galaxy E8 is based on the Galaxy Light concept, which was demonstrated at the beginning of the year as part of the announcement of the new family. The aggressive front bumper, sophisticated head optics and frameless doors with retractable handles were carried over from the show car. However, the E8 has doors with classic hinges, while the Geely Galaxy Light has front doors that open upwards and rear doors that open against the direction of travel. But the serial electric sedan has adopted another feature of the concept – a luminous nose: many LEDs are integrated into the blank front part, the “eight” can greet its owner.

A single 45-inch diagonal display was installed inside; it has an 8K resolution, anti-glare coating and fingerprint protection. Electronics – with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. For the Geely Galaxy E8, there are two steering wheel options – a two-spoke truncated steering wheel or a steering wheel. The list of equipment also includes a facial recognition system, a head-up display and “speakers” that rise above the front panel.
In China, sales of the Geely Galaxy E8 are expected to start this year, but there are no prices yet. Gili has not yet announced plans to supply models of the Galaxy family to other markets.
