It is assumed that the new supercar will be very different from the already presented DB12, as well as the upcoming updated Vantage.
Aston Martin began producing the flagship of its front-engine sports car line, the DBS, back in 1967. The current generation model debuted relatively recently — in 2018, but is already about to retire. Let us remind you that the farewell limited version of the DBS 770 Ultimate was presented at the beginning of this year; by the way, all 300 coupes and 199 convertibles were sold out before the official premiere.

Apparently, a new front-engine flagship Aston Martin DBS is already in development. Previously it was assumed that it might not get a V12 engine, but it is likely that the models will still use this engine. This is reported by the British Autocar with reference to the head of product and marketing strategy Alex Long. A company spokesman noted that “V12 engines are synonymous with Aston Martin,” and added that the engine “continues to evoke a huge emotional response among customers.”
The company wants to distance the DBS flagship from other models of the British brand, including the Aston Martin DB12 presented in May of this year. The division will begin at the “filling” level: let us remind you that the “junior” sports car is equipped with a 4.0-liter AMG V8 biturbo engine, its output is 680 hp and the maximum torque is 800 Nm. It's paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic. According to preliminary data, the output of the V12 engine in the new Aston Martin DBS may exceed 800 hp. p>Let us remind you that under the hood of the current flagship DBS there is a 715-horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine developed by Aston Martin, its volume is 5.2 liters (in the “farewell” version of the 770 Ultimate, the engine output was increased to 770 hp). The maximum torque for any version is 900 Nm. This powerful engine also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF.
So far, there has been no official announcement from the company that a new generation is awaiting DBS. However, Alex Long noted that the brand “will always have a flagship,” which means fans of the brand should still expect a new sports car that will take the place of Aston Martin’s flagship. Although it is possible that this model will eventually be given a different name or a new addition to the name.
< p>The top manager explained that each of the Aston Martin models from the line of front-engine sports cars should have its own character. Obviously, their designs will also differ significantly. Alex Long noted that the next generation DBS will differ from both the current DB12 and the updated Vantage, which is just getting ready for presentation. By the way, earlier the designer of Kolesa.ru suggested what this refreshed sports car would look like.
Despite its commitment to the internal combustion engine, Aston Martin is also entering the era of “greening”. Last month, we reported that the brand's first electric vehicle would be a crossover with components from Lucid and Mercedes-Benz. It is known that the firstborn will be born in 2025.
