The C10 mid-size crossover is both the first global model of the successful Chinese startup Leapmotor and the first new product on the Leap 3.0 platform introduced last summer.< br/>
Last month, Stellantis and Leapmotor announced a long-term partnership and the creation of a joint venture, Leapmotor International, to sell Chinese electric vehicles outside of China. A controlling stake (51%) of Leapmotor International shares will belong to Stellantis, and the CEO will be appointed by Stellantis. Stellantis Corporation will also invest €1.5 billion in Leapmotor itself, owning 20% of its shares and receiving two seats on its board of directors. Previously, there have been no transactions of this level in the global auto industry: the fundamental innovation is that the cooperation between Stellantis and Leapmotor is aimed mainly at the global market, and not at Leapmotor’s home Chinese market. We described the background of this transaction and the history of Leapmotor in more detail in a separate article.
In its native China, Leapmotor is doing well: in the first ten months of this year, the company sold 107,029 cars here, which is 13 .1% more compared to APPG. Of the young independent companies, only Li Auto (sold 284,648 cars in January-October) and Nio (126,067 units) currently sell more in China.

Leapmotor introduced the Leap 3.0 platform in July of this year; the mid-size crossover Leapmotor C10 was the first to receive it. The Leapmotor C10 first appeared in public in September at the Munich Motor Show, but there it stood on a stand with heavily tinted windows. The interior of the crossover was declassified a week ago at the Guangzhou Motor Show, and only after that the Leapmotor company began gradually revealing technical details.
Overall length of Leapmotor C10 — 4739 mm, width — 1900 mm, height — 1680 mm, wheelbase — 2825 mm. The front suspension is McPherson type, the rear is multi-link. Made from high-strength steel, the body has a torsional rigidity of 42,500 Nm/deg — more than the current Rolls-Royce Phantom and the latest carbon-fiber supercar Lamborghini Revuelto. The electronic architecture is based on a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip; it will serve the autopilot and remarkable multimedia capabilities of the crossover.

The Leapmotor C10 will have purely electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the range extender type, where the gasoline internal combustion engine is used as an electric range extender, that is, it operates in generator mode. The database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry has so far only declared a basic electric version with a single electric motor on the rear axle with a power of 231 hp. and a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 69.9 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for 530 km of CLTC cycle range. The all-wheel drive dual-motor electric version will have a power of 340 hp

The interior design of the Leapmotor C10 slightly resembles the American Fisker Ocean: there are no physical keys on the front panel, the air ducts are reduced in a narrow slot, the multimedia screen has a diagonal of 14.6 inches. The backs of the front seats can be folded back to a horizontal position to create two half-beds for relaxing during a picnic and on long trips.
In China, sales of the Leapmotor C10 will begin in January, deliveries in February, the expected price range is from 150,000 to 200,000 yuan (from 1.85 million to 2.47 million rubles in translation at the current exchange rate) . Sales in Europe will begin a little later, but during 2024, and in Europe, most likely, only electric versions of the crossover will be offered.
